Social Skills Training Kit for Kids
Social situations are filled with various unwritten rules and conventions that are not explicitly stated. Children gradually understand these through observation or guidance. Written by experienced speech therapist and parenting author Wan Ying Man, this approach encourages children to first identify "social cues" from their surroundings, then recognize relevant "implicit rules" and "expected behaviors," and finally respond with appropriate "actions" to become "social experts."
Three Stages of Social Training:
Stage 1 Training: Identify "social cues" and understand the context of the situation—what kind of place it is and what people are doing.
Stage 2 Advanced Training: Discern "implicit rules" and "expected behaviors," considering what rules to follow and what others expect them to do.
Stage 3 Advanced Training: Respond to the situation with "actions," determining what to say and what to do.
