YUNG Sau-mui's primary research interest is on the development of Hong Kong Print Art, in particular, the development of lithography and Chinese movable type in modern China. In 2017, she started researching the Ming type point 4, cast by the Hong Kong London Missionary Society Printing Press (Ying Wa College) in the mid-I9th century. The type was referred to as "Hong Kong type" by contemporaries in the literature. "The Bicentennial of Hong Kong Type: A Journey from the Pioneer, the White Elephant to the Cultural Heritage" details the "Hong Kong type," originally used for missionaries, and how it illustrated the culture, politics, and life of Chinese people, and how it shaped the development of printing technology in modern China
