Jin Yong's martial arts novels are well-known, and the study of Jin Yong's novels has become a prominent science. However, Jin Yong's film reviews, literary criticisms, political commentaries, columns, translated works, and even articles on Buddhist studies written in newspapers under many pseudonyms are rarely mentioned.
Since writing a film talk column in the fifties of the last century, Jin Yong has to watch a movie almost every day and write a thousand-word film review for the newspaper every day, which forces him to devote himself to film research. As a columnist, this fostered his interests and pursuits, and also provided him with the opportunity to learn and practice his writing.
This collection of essays is a selection of Jin Yong's newspaper articles on films, including films involving China and foreign countries, incisive and pertinent commentary, and an analysis of the film's production techniques and artistic effects.
