Elderly Mental Wellness Series: Practice Wisdom of Mindfulness Based Group Intervention
The main purpose of this handbook is to provide systematic practical guidance to assist professionals serving the elderly and people from all walks of life in the community to use evidence-based psychotherapeutic theories as interventions in group counselling to effectively improve the moods of the elders with symptoms of depression.
This book contains the experiences and insights of the elderly and social workers who have participated in the JC JoyAge project in the application of psychotherapy over the years. The materials, stories, explanations, exercises and activities detailed in the handbook have been shared and refined by the elders and social workers, so that they are more in line with the language, culture, thinking and lifestyle of the elderly. Their experience reflects that many western empirical psychotherapeutic practices need to be co-constructed with the recipients in order to achieve a localized and culturally-integrated approach. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the elderly and social workers for their participation, and hope that this handbook can benefit more seniors.
