First-hand folklore – the traditions and stories of the New Territories
The title of this book is "first-hand", because the content is the author's personal experience and experience of investigating the folk customs of the New Territories (including outlying islands) for many years, using "year" as a unit, and exchanging "wait" for "etc".
The richness and variety of Hong Kong's customs are often unexpected, but most of the predecessors focused on the convenient urban conditions, ignoring that the New Territories is also a treasure land with rich folk mines, and many valuable things and activities have not been recorded in books and magazines.
Since entering the social work in the late 80s, at the age of 35, the author of this book has been traveling alone in Hong Kong, Kowloon and the New Territories to discover unknown, neglected or on the verge of disappearing.
