The Treasure-trove of Privacy — Understanding Your Personal Data
In Hong Kong, the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance ("PDPO") provides a comprehensive protection framework for our personal data privacy and regulates the collection, holding, processing and use of personal data. Based on the PDPO, this book introduces the principles of protecting personal data privacy under the PDPO in an easy-to-understand manner, analyses the risks and pitfalls of personal data privacy from a daily perspective, and illustrates the application of the PDPO with a number of real-life cases to help readers understand how to protect their personal data. The book also provides a detailed explanation of the 2021 amendment to the PDPO, which criminalised doxxing, and explores the issues related to personal data privacy in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, chatbots, Web 3.0 and the metaverse.
