Language Barrier: Chinese Language Education for South Asian Minorities in Hong Kong
This book focuses on South Asian students studying in kindergartens and primary schools in Hong Kong. Using research methods in language education, second language teaching and language policy, the author deeply analyzes the difficulties encountered by South Asian ethnic groups in learning Chinese, and proposes practical and innovative teaching methods, hoping to enhance the effectiveness of Chinese learning for South Asian ethnic students and expand their opportunities for higher education and future career development. The author emphasises that how to enable ethnic minorities to use Chinese and Chinese independently and confidently in Hong Kong's multilingual and multicultural society is an important task for Chinese education in Hong Kong, and hopes that this book will promote a deeper understanding of the Chinese and teaching of ethnic minorities in Hong Kong by the academic community and the public
