The flow of time
Through the life experiences of a German father and son, this book shows the tortuous process of mutual influence and integration between European groups and Hakka settlements. His father, Hao Tianli, left Germany at the age of 26 and became associated with Hakka in China all his life. He taught German and English at secondary schools in Wuhua and Meixian, as well as at the National Sun Yat-sen University School of Medicine. Since its opening in 1903, the middle school where he taught has allowed more than 40 Hakka teenagers to leave the mountain village and become medical doctors. After he returned to Germany, it was said that China gave him everything. The third son, Hao Junhe, left Meixian at the age of 11, and Hakka memories became the background color of his life, so that since the 80s of the last century, he has returned to Meixian more than ten times with his family and students.
Switzerland Germany Through archival documents, diaries, letters, reports, and oral accounts of the people involved, the author resurfaces the historical picture of the collision and exchange between European culture and Hakka culture, including education, medical care, football, and religion, through archival historical documents, diaries, letters, reports, and oral accounts of the people involved.
