Inheritance and Reinvention: Neo-Confucian Philosophy from Song-Ming to Contemporary
From Zhang Hengqu, Chen Baisha, Zhan Ganquan, Luo Quan, Wang Yangming etc., to Tang Chun-i, Mou Zongsan, and Liu Shu-hsien, this book examines the concepts, principles and research approaches of Confucian scholars, and sorts out in detail the development of Song and Ming Dynasty science to contemporary Neo-Confucianism.
Song Ming theory is known to be difficult to understand. How can we enter its world of righteousness? Through the research results of contemporary Neo-Confucianism (or Neo-Confucianism in Hong Kong and Taiwan), this book takes readers through a glimpse of the mysteries. Contemporary Neo-Confucianism is the most original and speculative academic group in Chinese philosophy in the twentieth century, among which Tang Chun-i and Mou Zongsan are the peaks. This book analyses their interpretations of Song and Ming Dynasty theory, and sorts out two research approaches that are different but not irreconcilable. In addition, in the face of the impact of modern culture, does Confucianism and traditional culture still have value and significance? This book uses the example of contemporary Neo-Confucianism to refute anti-traditionalism and show that Confucianism can be revitalised.
