Sweat and Ink: Sun Shoukuang, the first person of Hong Kong New Literature Publishing and Shoukuang chubanbu
The spark of the May Fourth Movement ignited the enthusiasm of Sun Shoukuang, a young man from Hong Kong in the United Kingdom colony, who organised a volunteer school with other students at the age of 19. Later, a student bookstore was opened and a magazine was founded. The germination and development of new literature (vernacular literature) prompted this enthusiastic young man to devote himself to literary creation in his spare time, and opened a publishing house, Shoukuang chubanbu, becoming the first publishing house in Hong Kong to publish new literary works.
This is an important stage in the development of new literary creation in Hong Kong, but it is a virgin place in the study of Hong Kong literary history. The author of this book has unearthed a lot of valuable materials and wrote this book as a filler.
