When Silk Was Gold: Central Asian and Chinese Textiles
The Chinese University of Hong Kong Press
When Silk Was Gold is the first catalogue of rich silk and embroidery made in Central Asia and China between the 8th and 15th centuries AD. Inspired by a 1998 exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Cleveland Museum of Art in United States, this catalogue brings together 64 works from the collections of these two world-class museums. Most of these collections date back to the Mongolia period, but also include important textiles from the Tang to Ming dynasties.
